KATHUA, Oct 29: The failure of authorities to construct a proper drainage system on the road from Kali Bari to Main Chowk Kathua and from there to Hatli Morh, the crores of rupees spent on the face lifting and blacktopping of this road have been wasted as entire blacktopping got eroded and washed away during the Monsoon rains after two feet water got accumulated during rains on this entire stretch of this road.
The money spent on the face lifting and blacktopping of this road under CRF and MLA’s Constituency Development Fund (CDF) got totally waste due to the failure of the authorities to have a proper and concrete policy for the development of the area.
As the various parts of the road were washed away and there are deep holes and ditches on it at various locations of the city, but the authorities are unmoved to renovate it knowing fully that hazardous roads are cause of accidents.
The road from Shaheedi Chowk to Ambedkar bridge has lost its identity as it has not been renovated for a pretty long time. The deep ditches on it are cause of routine accidents as the Ambedkar bridge has not been blacktopped though there is a heavy flow of traffic on this road. The vehicles especially two wheelers often met accidents on this stretch of road due to its bad condition.
The Kathua people have expressed lot of resentment against the same and alleged that what was the fun of blacktopping of road and wasting huge public money when no provision for drainage has been kept. The concerning Department did not pay attention to make repairs of road and Ambedkar bridge which has become a death trap, they alleged.
