Kathua terror attack widely condemned, people demand stringent measures

JAMMU, July 8: There was widespread condemnation of the Kathua terror attack, in which four army jawans were martyred, while many injured.
Three former Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir today condemned the terror attack on Army personnel in Kathua district of the Union Territory.
The three former CMs — Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti and Ghulam Nabi Azad, reacted sharply to terrorists ambushing an Army truck in remote Machedi area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district killing four personnel and injuring six others. The fifth personnel succumbed to his injuries later.
“Terrible news from Kathua. It’s a very bad day when you lose four brave army personnel in the line of duty. I condemn the attack unequivocally and send my heartfelt condolences to the families. I hope the injured make a swift & complete recovery,” Abdullah, who is the vice president of the National Conference (NC), posted on X.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, while condemning the attack, said it was an indication of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Condemn the terror attack in Kathua that claimed the lives of four soldiers. Tragic & equally shocking that they are losing their lives in the line of duty in places where one found little to no trace of militancy before 2019.
“Tells you all there is to know about the current security situation in J&K. Deepest condolences to their families,” she said in a post on X.
Azad also expressed his grief over the incident.
“Deeply saddened and strongly condemn the ambush on an army vehicle by terrorists in Kathua, resulting in the tragic loss of four jawans and injuries to six others. The rise in terrorism in Jammu province is deeply concerning.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured and their families. The government must act decisively to tackle terrorism and ensure public safety!” DPAP president Ghulam Nabi Azad posted on X.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP President, Ravinder Raina today condemned the terror attack on the army vehicle in Kathua.
In a statement issued, Raina said, “I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on a army vehicle in Kathua, my condolences to the family members of the martyred army jawans. The cowardly Pakistanis have committed a very big sin. Our security forces and police have launched a joint operation to hunt down the terrorists. Those who are responsible for this will not be spared.”
“The whole country and the people of Jammu & Kashmir are with them,” he added.
Showing serious concern over surge in terrorist attacks in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, angry people, led by State Congress Committee, General Secretary Satish Sharma, demonstrated against Pakistan at Gangyal Petrol Pump Chowk and set the Pakistani flag on fire.
On this occasion, District Jammu Vice President Baldev Singh Wazir, General Secretary Om Prakash Sharma, Gurdas Mal Bittu, Arjun Kumar, Swarn Kumar, Ricky Ramesh Sangral were also present.
Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and former Minister, Manjit Singh has also condemned the terror attack on an army vehicle in a village in Kathua district.
In a statement issued, Singh said, “The terror act is highly condemnable, and the perpetrators of the terror attack must be punished by our brave security forces.”
Expressing sympathies with the respective family members of the martyred brave hearts, the Former Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed and strength to the family members to bear this irrepressible loss.
He said that the Govt must take a tough stance against the elements helping the terrorists to hide and carry out such an attack on the Indian Army.
Meanwhile, President Kandi Belt, Bani-Basohli, Yasir Choudhary also expressed deep shock over the martyrdom of four army men.
He also expressed sympathy with the respective bereaved family members of the Indian Army personnel and demanded stringent action against the accused persons involved in the terror attack.
Senior leader of BJP, Devinder Singh Rana also condemned the terror incident in Kathua.
In a statement issued, Rana expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
He said, “Pakistan has always unleashed terrorism on our soil and is now making desperate efforts by infiltrating highly trained terrorists but Pakistan will never succeed. Terrorism is on last leges in J&K and our determined security forces are responding valiantly and are defeating Pakistan’s nefarious designs on different fronts.”
Rana further urged the world to declare Pakistan a rouge state and take them on.
The Young Lawyers Association also extended their heartfelt condolences to the families of the brave army personnel who tragically lost their lives in the heinous terrorist attack in Kathua today.
In a statement issued, they said, “We stand united in grief and solidarity during this unimaginably difficult time. The sacrifice made by these courageous individuals in the line of duty serves as a solemn reminder of the relentless commitment and unwavering dedication our armed forces demonstrate in protecting our nation.”
Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) senior leadership also expressed deep anguish over the martyrdom of 4 army bravehearts and injuries to six others in the terror attack.
In a joint statement issued, senior leaders advocate Ashok Sharma ex legislator provincial vice president, Ch Gharu Ram ex Minister and Zonal President, Sobat Ali Chowdhary ex Corporator President ST Cell, PK Ganju Working Committee Member, Ashok Bhagat, Kamal Preet Singh, Kulwant Singh Chib, Balbir Singh, Gourav Chopra District President, all senior leaders expressed condolences and sympathies with the families of the bravehearts.
Gaurav Gupta, former General Secretary of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Jammu, also condemned the terror attack.
Expressing deep sorrow and outrage, Gaurav Gupta stated, “The cowardly attack on our brave soldiers is a reprehensible act of terrorism that deserves the strongest condemnation. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the martyred soldiers, and I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Jammu and Kashmir Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) General Secretary and media head, Rajesh Gupta also condemned the ambush on the army vehicle by terrorists in Kathua that resulted in the tragic loss of four jawans.
In a statement issued here today, he said, “The rise in terrorism in Jammu province is deeply concerning.”.
He also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families.
Showing serious concern over surge in terrorist attacks in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir, Shiv Sena Hindustan J&K President Pt Rajesh Kesri today condemned the escalating violence and the role of Pakistan-funded terrorism in the region aimed to disturb ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji yatra.
“The continuous attacks by terrorists are a serious threat to the safety and security of our citizens. It is imperative that we take strong action against those responsible and their supporters,” he said and demanded that firm action be taken to check rising militancy, which has been spreading in entire Jammu.
