Kathua’s Devinder Kumar is FSL head in Port Blair

JAMMU, Jan 16: Dr Devinder Kumar, son of the soil and a prominent DNA expert, has been appointed as new In-charge of Forensic Science Laboratory, Port Blair, Andman & Nicobar Islands.
Dr Kumar is a native of village Uttri in Kathua District of Jammu Kashmir Union Territory and has a vast experience of conducting DNA specific research in various reputed Institutions of the country in different capacities before joining services at Port Blair.
He was instrumental in solving many sensational Forensic DNA cases of national importance such as Kedarnath flash floods in 2013, Gandhi Maidan blasts in Patna in 2013, Pathankot Airbase terrorist attack in 2016 etc.
He was also engaged in establishment of the country’s 8th Central Forensic Science Laboratory (under Directorate of Forensic Science Services, MHA) in Samba District of J&K.
