JAMMU: The helicopter service suspended in the backdrop of helicopter crash resumed today after three trial runs from Katra to Sanjhi Chat in Katra town of Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The service, which was suspended on Monday after a helicopter of Himalayan Heli crashed near New Bus Stand Katra, resumed this evening from Katra, official sources here said.
They said three trial runs were conducted by the teams of DGCA and Shrine Board following which it was signalled green to resume the service. Seven people including a lady pilot and a newly married couple were killed in Monday helicopter crash.
A team of DGCA comprising officials of Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau wing yesterday arrived in Katra and started the probe to investigate the reason behind crash.
However, according to an eye witnesses, the helicopter crashed after it was hit by a bird.
Meanwhile locals from Katra also staged protest against the helicopter service providers alleging that they were not following the norms of the aviation and flouting them, which leads to accident.
The protesters also claimed that to carry more sorties aiming to mint more money, the route followed by the helicopters was not as per the norms and the criteria. (Agencies)
