Katra Stakeholders Development Forum submits memorandum to LG

JAMMU, Jan 29: Holy Town Katra Stakeholders Development Forum has submitted a memorandum to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for highlighting the issues like lack of essential infrastructure and basic facilities in the town.
The Forum has appealed the Government to formally declare Katra as a Heritage Town and establishment of a Ropeway connecting Katra to significant destinations like Devi Park, Yog Ashram etc.
Acknowledging the significance of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra-Tarakot Express Highway, the Forum has demanded that the Express Highway should be extended to Shivkhori shrine.
The Forum has also demanded implementation of PRASHAD Scheme for impetus to infrastructure development, refinement of Parikarama Routes, upgrading Katra Municipal Committee to Municipal Council,, development of main bazar in Katra town comprehensive overhaul of Katra Master Plan, modernization of sewage system of the town, establishment of cattle pond in Katra, establishment of Spiritual Theme Park, increasing frequency of Swaraj Express and Vivek Express.
Drawing attention towards congestion in Katra town, the Forum has explained that there is a lot of traffic problem on roads like Jammu-Katra, Ban Ganga and Panthal Road etc due to illegal parking of vehicles and unauthorized vendors. To solve this problem and make things better, paid parking areas should be identified, said the memorandum.
“Your attention to these vital issues will undoubtedly accelerate Katra’s holistic development, aligning with its spiritual significance and the aspirations of its residents and devotees,” reads the memorandum, submitted to the Lt Governor, through president of the Forum, Baldev Raj Sharma, former MLA Reasi.
Besides highlighting these issues and seeking redressal of the problems, the Forum has also acknowledged the contribution of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the Government administration in developing the facilities for the pilgrims.
