Kavi Goshthi on birth anniversary of Tara Smailpuri held

JAMMU, July 1: Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) here today organised a multi-lingual Dogri Kavi Goshthi to remember Late Tara Smailpuri, renowned Dogri poet and writer on his 97th birth anniversary.
Dr. Sambedana Sharma read a detailed paper on life and works of Smailpuri.
Padma Shree Mohan Singh, Dogri Convener Sahitya Academy and Sahitya Academy Awardee was chief guest on this occasion while Chander Mohan Sharma, renowned political and social activist presided over and Om Vidiarthy, Sahitya Academy Awardee was guest of honour.
Poets who participated were Om Vidiarthy, Lalit Sharma, Yogacharya S.K Jain, Sushil Bhola, Balwinder Singh, Suraj Singh, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Sunita Kerni Sharma, Randhir Singh Raipuria and Madan Magotra.
Speaking on the occasion Mohan Singh stressed on speaking in Dogri at home by every family of Duggar.
“Mother tongue Dogri can become a strong base and reference language to learn other languages with ease and convenience,” he maintained.
Chander Mohan Sharma in his presidential address said that there is a need to organise special programmes on veteran Dogri writers, poets and artists so that new generation may get inspiration to speak in their mother tongue and feel pride in Duggar culture. Harish Kaila announced that NDS has decided to organise regular special programmes to commemorate veteran Dogri poets, writers and artists.
He hailed the decision of Jammu Municipal Corporation to start Dogri as compulsory subject up to primary level in Jammu schools and congratulated Jammu Mayor, Rajinder Sharma and his team for this historic decision.
