JAMMU: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta returned today from Australia after attending the three-day CPA Mid-Year Executive Committee Meeting, 2017.
The Mid Year Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee Meeting 2017 was held at Darwin, the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, from April 25 to 27.
The Speaker took part in different programmes of the CPA during his stay in Australia and interacted with intellectuals and policy makers on the sidelines of the meeting including Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament and Chairperson Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Choudhary, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Varun Gandhi.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) connects, develops, promotes and supports Parliamentarians and their staff to identify benchmarks of good governance and the implementation of the enduring values of the Commonwealth.
It brings Parliamentarians and parliamentary staff together to exchange ideas among themselves and with experts in various fields, to identify benchmarks of good practices and new policy options they can adopt or adapt in the governance of their societies.
