Kavinder calls on Speaker Maharashtra Assembly

Jammu, Mar 13: BJP State general secretary and MLA from Gandhi Nagar Constituency who is tipped to be the Speaker of J&K Aseembly, Kavinder Gupta today called on Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly Haribhau Bagde in Mumbai in presence of Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis.
Gupta briefed Mr Bagde about the functioning of the J&K Assembly, besides the working of Library Committee in detail. He apprised him that the Assembly Library has 27,000 valuable ready references in English, Urdu and other languages on various subjects including History, Tourism, Religious, Constitution and Law which have been catalogued properly.
He said the list of the reference books will shortly be put on the website of the Assembly for the benefits of the people of the State in general and the book readers, research scholars, authors and intellectuals of the country in particular. Gupta further informed that the Library of J&K Assembly is being upgraded to national and international standard for which the process has already been started. Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly highlighting importance of speaker in Assembly said that the important function of the Speaker is to preside over the sessions of the Assembly and to maintain order and discipline within the House. He sees whether there is necessary quorum. He may adjourn or suspend the sitting of the House if necessary quorum is not there, or to restore discipline. He may even suspend or expel members of the House for unruly behaviour.
