JAMMU, Aug 17: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today said that the timeline given by former J&K Chief Minister and DPAP chief, Ghulam Nabi Azad about the inception of Islam in India is true to the hilt as this religion was introduced in the Sub-continent around 1500 years ago as aboriginals used to practice Hinduism before advent of invaders who brought in other religions.
The BJP leader cited the statement made by Azad in Doda’s Chiralla area that before the invasion of the country by people of different religions, there prevailed only Hinduism, which is the oldest religion known in the history.
Kavinder, endorsing Azad, said that unveiling the history of Kashmir would also tell that not more than 600 years ago, there was no Muslim in Kashmir as all used to be Hindus. He said that it was invaders, who converted aboriginals to Islam and those who refused were killed brutally. He cited the case of ninth Guru of Sikhs, who was martyred for shouldering the cause of Kashmiri Hindus, who approached him to save them from the wrath of Mughal rulers.
The senior BJP leader asserted that almost all the Muslims living across J&K are all offspring of Hindus as also endorsed by NC patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah on many occasions. He however made a point that certain political entities are misusing the situation to divide the society for political gains creating fissures among the people.
Meanwhile, responding to a question over allegation of PDP leader, Mehbooba Mufti that India’s situation has worsened and it is standing along with Pakistan and Syria, the BJP leader said that India is making unprecedented progress and soon it will become third top economy of the world. Those who used to support Mehbooba including Hurriyat and Jamaat are nowhere and she has lost relevance in politics because the party at the Centre has stopped giving importance to her. Kavinder was speaking after inaugurating development works here at Ward No 68 in Greater Kailash’s Langer area. The lane and drain works worth Rs 1 crore were started besides in Ward No 1 in Cantonment area, work on Bathing Ghat worth Rs 12 lakh was started.
