NEW DELHI, Jan 7: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta today met Union Minister, of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Anurag Thakur and discussed several issues regarding Jammu and Kashmir with him.
The former Deputy Chief Minister apprised Thakur of different subjects of immediate attention including an employment package for the Jammu and Kashmir youth, industrial package, besides regularization of daily wagers in the Union Territory among others.
“With the Article 370, a major developmental hurdle has been removed. The Centre Government is committed to the welfare of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. A mega employment package is on the cards and will be announced very soon for the youth of the erstwhile State,” Thakur told Gupta.
Similarly, the Central Government has always taken care of various industries operating in unique and difficult circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
Kavinder also welcomed as significant the new Industrial Developmental Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir with a total outlay of Rs. 28,400 crore. Announced by the Centre on Thursday, the scheme will remain in force till the year 2037 and will provide employment to over 4.5 lakh persons thus ensuring equitable, balanced and sustainable socio-economic development of the region. He also raised with Thakur the issue of regularization of daily wagers in various Government departments.
“The successive Governments in the past have exploited the employees, conveniently ignoring the genuine issues faced by them. While the UT administration has started the regularisation process, it needs to be expedited,” Gupta stressed.
Thakur said, “The BJP Government has always thought of welfare of employees. The Government is also working tirelessly to provide relief to them and their regularization will be completed very soon.”
The issues of regularization of contractual 10+2 teachers and employees recruited under Rehbar-e- Khel and Rehbar-e-Janglat was also taken up in the discussion and it was assured that it will be resolved very soon.
