JAMMU, May 13: Speaker, State Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta and Minister of State for Education, Culture and Information Priya Sethi today visited Jammu City schools and inspected infrastructure and other facilitates.
The schools which were inspected include, Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan, Middle School, Langer and Middle School, Dodhi Gujjar.
Kavinder Gupta sanctioned Rs 2 lakh from CDF and Priya Sethi sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for development of Model School Sunjwan.
Director, School Education, Jammu Simrandeep Singh, CEO, Jammu and other officers of the department accompanied them during the visit.
While inspecting infrastructure in Sunjwan School, the Speaker laid stress on improving facilities for the students and said that the Sunjwan School being model institute should have all the modern facilities so that more and more students get enrolled in the school.
He said the school facilities should be developed at par with those available in private schools so that students get attracted to the model school.
Stressing on increasing enrolment in schools, Priya Sethi said the Government has selected model schools and the same would be equipped with all required human resource and infrastructure, adding that school administration should involve locals, organize school marches and showcase facilities available in the schools to the parents.
“It is responsibility of the school teachers and administration to work hard for increasing enrollment by associating local educationists and senior members of society so that more and more students get benefit from the improved infrastructure of the Government schools,” she added.
While inspecting facilities in Middle School Langer, the Minister called upon the staff to ensure that quality education is provided to the students. She said studies and co-curricular activities should be given equal attention for over all personality development of the students.
She also inspected the arrangements for mid-day meals and the kitchen of the school.
She interacted with the pre-primary students and called upon social organizations to come forward to adopt children for providing school uniforms and other material
Later at Dodhi Gujjar School, Priya Sethi impressed upon the school administration to work for improving general outlook of the school. She said aim should be to have at least 30 students in each class.
She interacted with locals and appealed them to motivate people of the locality for sending children to the schools as Government has launched all out efforts to upgrade facilities in the Government schools.
