JAMMU, May 5: Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, today released the book “Qualitative Methods: Public Policy & Evaluation” written by Dr DR Kapoor and Puja Saigal, at a well-attended function here at Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that the Government is committed to encourage innovation, research and development for inclusive growth. He complimented the authors for their significant contribution towards academic pursuits, thereby building knowledge base for enhancing the quality of life of deprived and marginalized section of the society.
He reiterated that well designed public policy grounded to the field and its effective monitoring, execution and evaluation will meet the expectations of the people. He highlighted the practical implications of participatory approach in transformation of society, where researcher and stakeholders have been observed as proactive co-partners in development processes and evaluation.
Gupta advised the scholars, teaching community to focus more on applied research so that the socio-economic problems of the people can be solved. He said that the writers Dr DR Kapoor and Puja Saigal have made a sincere, exhaustive and intelligent attempt to elucidate the practical aspects of the qualitative research in achieving the goal of sustainable development especially for the developing nations like India.
Ashwani Jojra/Vikas Kapoor explained that the book focuses on three significant themes namely, research methodology, public policy and evaluation. Methodology deals with methods and tools for generation of data through participatory approach while public policy deliberates on formulation, execution, ethics and evaluation of public policy. On the other hand, evaluation consists of formative and summated models.
