JAMMU, Feb 24: Reviewing the development works of Gandhi Nagar constituency, Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta undertook an extensive tour of Kunjwani, Channi Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Nai Basti and interacted with people at these places.
The Speaker was accompanied by the officers of ERA, PDD, PHE, PWD(R&B), IRCON & JMC along with the political leaders and prominent citizens of the area.
During his visit, he inspected the progress for construction of Nallahs and other deep drains, upgradation of Power development infrastructure by IRCON, laying of new water pipe lines by ERA, functioning of tubewells and the upkeep of parks & gardens.
The local populace projected few demands pertaining to the construction of community hall at Kunjwani, installation of transformers at few places, blacktopping, proper sanitation and others.
Inspecting the works taken up by Jammu Municipal Corporation and PWD(R&B), he directed them to speed up the works and also ensure that the construction material doesn’t cause any nuisance for the locals.
He asked ERA and PDD to work in tandem with their PPP partners and sought the support of local people in extending every possible help to these agencies for ensuring timely completion of the projects.
Highlighting the importance of Public-Private Partnership in infrastructure development, he said, “The States having adopted this model are on the top; not only in terms of GDP growth but on other indexes also”.
He asked all the departments to encourage more and more projects based on PPP model to speed up the creation of assets and optimum utilization of human resource by way of creating more employment opportunities for the youth.
The Speaker said that the present Government is working on the model of “Good Governance” based on the principle of development and welfare of masses, as envisaged by former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He asked the people to actively participate in the Swach Bharat Mission by keeping their surroundings clean, using the dust bins, educating people to refrain from open defection and constructing toilets in the plots rented to labour class.
