JAMMU, Feb 15: Stressing the need of timely completion of the projects being undertaken by the J&K Economic Reconstru-ction Agency (JKERA), Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta urged the officers to intensify the pace of work.
Mr Gupta extensively toured the area and reviewed the progress of ongoing works. Accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, JKERA, Vinod Sharma, Project Officer & Superintendent Engineer, JKERA, Shakti Sagar, Executive Engineer, JKERA along with other senior officers of the agency, he urged the officers to ensure the quality of work also.
Gupta visited the site of various nallahs at Jeevan Nagar- Muraliyan Road, Ekta Vihar-Gangyal, Model Town, Thangar, Channi Himmat where the works are going on and inspected the quality of the works. He was apprised by the officers about the difficulties faced by them while executing the work on these nallahs.
He was told that besides few writ petitions, at some places they are not getting the cooperation of people in completing the work and that is delaying the works which is required to be completed before the onset of rainy season.
Referring to this as the work of most urgent nature and that too for the welfare of overall society, Kavinder Gupta directed the officers to talk to the people who are creating hurdles in the execution of these works and try to make a midway and see that everything goes well and completed within time, if the need arises take the best possible action under law so that the life and property of the people living in these areas is not put to risk in future, he added.
Later he took a meeting of these officers at the office of JKERA and various other projects such the flyover up to Satwari Chowk, Shakuntla to Amphalla, Jewel Chowk to Canal road, Widening of B C road along with the commissioning of few tube wells and OHT’s were also discussed.
Keeping in mind the importance of these projects, Gupta asked the CEO of JKERA to take up these projects on priority and make it sure that these don’t get delayed any further due to bureaucratic hurdles or some other vested interests.
