Kavinder visits flood affected areas of Gandhi Nagar Constituency

JAMMU, Aug 21: Former Dy. Chief Minister and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today visited the flood affected areas and took stock of the damages caused by the incessant rains last night. He visited Kalika Colony, Gorkha Nagar, Rajeev Nagar, Qasim Nagar, Narwal Areas , Chhani Rama and Nanak Nagar in Gandhi Nagar Constituency.
The water overflowed from Nallahs at the localities and caused damages to the residential houses in Kalika Colony. Gupta interacted with the locals and assured for every possible help to them and also directed the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for restoration of the protection wall of the Nallah and placing crates for preventing the water to breach the bunds in the future.
He also called the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for getting the damaged lanes and drains restored within shortest possible time and depute a dedicated team from district administration to assess the losses to the people. He interacted with the families of the flood victims and told them to reach to district administration for early assessment of  the damages suffered by every family and furnish the details in the shortest possible time so that the process of compensation under any available scheme can be initiated at the earliest.
Further ensuring the people, he said that the project for underground Nallahs of these colonies have already been prepared by the UEED under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation and the same will be executed in a time bound manner giving a life time relief to the people of these colonies. Gupta while addressing the locals of area assured that, the matter of damages caused by the heavy rains shall be discussed with the administration for all possible help to the victims.
He said that the people should take care while constructing their homes and not to take the construction along-side the Nallah. He requested the people for co-operating with the law enforcing agencies and get due permission from the concerned.
Gupta also visited Qasim Nagar, Nanak Nagar and Rajeev Nagar Narwal areas where the rain water had entered their homes and caused heavy losses to the house hold items and electrical appliances. They demanded for the Permanent Drainage system in the locality. All the drainage and Sewerages have been filled with the concrete due to rains. Gupta listened to the problems of the inhabitants and assured with the best possible solution to the genuine problem.
