Kavinder visits interiors of Bahu Fort, inspects ongoing works

JAMMU, June 10: Former Deputy Chief Minister & senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta along with MLC Ch. Vikram Randhawa today conducted an extensive visit to the interiors of Bahu Fort area, Ward No 47 and 48 and reviewed the status of public amenities available there.
They also inspected the ongoing work of deep drain being constructed by UEED at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore. He said after the completion of project the inhabitants of the areas will feel safe and there would be no loss of private property due to floods in rainy season.
He also visited Gujjar Basti, Central Mohalla, Gorkha Nagar, Sheikh Nagar, Press Morh and adjoining areas. He took note of necessary interventions required to upgrade the basic infrastructure in the locality including constructions of lanes, drains, roads, drinking water and other concerned departments.
A public function was also organised in Bahu to listen to the grievances of the people. Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder informed the locals that detailed project reports are being prepared for execution of all these works.
Kavinder said that during the first phase of works, drainage across localities would be constructed and upgraded to meet the requirements of the local populace.
During this phase, extensive sanitation measures will be taken to remove blockages/blockades in the drainage network and Phase-II will comprise of blacktopping/tiling in accordance with the feasibility study reports, he stressed. For this, he asked the concerned agencies to conduct a detailed feasibility report in accordance with the topography, other factors to ensure durability, longevity of the works being undertaken.
He further said that these works will be executed on a war footing with special attention on the quality of works.
Responding to the reports received from locals regarding frequent absence of Safaikaramcharis in the area, he also urged JMC, PWD, PHE, other departments to regularly interact with locals, local representatives to gauge the on ground performance of their respective departments and to keep channels of communication open for public.
The problem of faulty motor in Sheikh Nagar was brought to notice of the leaders. Reacting to the genuine demand MLC Vikram Randhawa announced that funds will be provided from CDF so that the water supply is restored at the earliest.
BaldevBillowria, Vinay Gupta, Ankush Gupta, SubashChander, Sunny Sangotra, BJP local workers, prominent citizens among others were present on the occasion.
