JAMMU, Oct 7: The Environmental Club of KC College of Education here today celebrated ‘World Habitat Day’.
On this occasion, the Club organized a slogan writing activity for the students of Arya Girls High School, Jammu on the theme ‘Creating a Better Urban Future’ to remind the people in general and students in particular that they are responsible for the habitat of future generations.
A number of students of Arya Public High School participated in the activity and the best slogan writers were rewarded.
Principal of the College, Dr. Sanjay Tickoo appreciated the efforts of the students and the Environmental Club of the College for organizing such awareness activities. The whole event was convened by Dr. Puja Sharma, Club Convenor and Rita Jamwal, College faculty.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environmental Sciences in collaboration with Department of Geography at Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur celebrated World Habitat Day 2024.
The programme started with welcome address by Poonam Kundan, Head of Environmental Sciences Department.
Students of the College participated in slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Engaging Youth for a Better Urban Future.’
First position was achieved by Ranjit Kaur, second by Palak Panotra and third by Avijeet Kumar.
The competition was adjudged by Prof. Mamta Gupta, Dr. Anoop Bhagat and Prof. Ritu Bhagat.
Dr. Vandana Verma, Principal of the College highlighted the vital role that young people play in shaping sustainable cities.
The whole event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan and Prof. Meetu Sharma and co-coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat and Dr. Naseem Choudhary.
