Srinagar, Mar 22: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) today urged State Government to put a system in place so as to ensure that the entire population gets the Aadhaar cards as early as possible.
A Chamber statement said here that it has time and gain brought to the notice of the State Administration the difficulties that the trading community is facing in and out of the State for want of Aadhaar card.
“It is astonishing that the process for Aadhaar registration started in 2015 through which number of people had registered for Aadhaar card has not been completed as only a small percentage of cards were issued by the concerned while a larger number of people registered for the purpose have not received the Aadhaar cards,” it said.
On an enquiry from the Authorities earlier it was given to understand that the contract with the agencies appointed for Aadhaar card registration had come to end while some of the agencies have backed out before they could complete the job, said the KCCI. ”It was however assured that fresh arrangements were afoot to have the job completed at the earliest. But no arrangements have so far been made a larger percentage of population is without Aadhaar card.
“As a result they are deprived of several Aadhaar card linked facilities necessary for living smooth day to day life. Of late Aadhaar card has been linked with submission of IT returns and obtaining the Income Tax PAN card etc. also and unnecessary harassment is caused to the people while seeking various amenities of life including opening a bank account or seeking a LPG connection,” the Chamber said.
