KCCI calls on Jt Com Income Tax

Srinagar, June 9: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today said it held a detailed meeting with the Joint Commissioner Income Tax Department SK Sharma to discuss various issues faced by tax payers of Kashmir especially for post flood period.
In a statement issued here, the KCCI said that the attention of the Joint Commissioner was drawn towards issue of notices by IT Department under Section 148 for assessment years 2007-08 and 2008-09 and was told that the relevant records for the period have got damaged in the floods in September 2014, issue regarding non refunds and non acceptance of Income Tax by the banks.
“The Joint Commissioner assured full cooperation from Income Tax Department in dealing with assesses to whom the notices have been issued under Section 148. The Joint Commissioner informed during the meeting that Income Declaration Scheme 2016 has been announced by the Government of India which is effective from June 1, 2016 for a period of 4 months i.e. upto 30th of September and said that he will post a Nodal Officer for Kashmir to facilitate such declarations,” said the KCCI statement.
He further advised the KCCI to impress upon the tax payer/ assessee to pay advance tax before June 15, 2016. “The Joint Commissioner assured that the officials of the Department of Income Tax at Srinagar shall provide all the required assistance to the assessees and that he will be personally available round the clock to address grievances if any,” added the KCCI statement.
