SRINAGAR, Sept 17: While condemning the remarks of  State BJP chief Sat Sharma against the issues raised by Jammu Chamber before Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his Jammu visit, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry  has appealed to the Jammu Chamber of  Commerce and Industry to  reconsider its decision of shutdown  and promote the resolution of problems through dialogue.
After holding an emergency meeting here today, the Kashmir Chamber, chief Javed Ahmed Tenga  in a communiqué to the president of Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rakesh Gupta  appealed to rethink on the decision regarding Jammu bandh on Monday and prefer the way of dialogue being apex trade body as the shut downs/strikes lead to business interruptions.
KCCI chief further invited the JCCI members to hold meeting and discuss the issues which are of the interests of business community  and chalk out joint strategy to take up effective measures for the resolution of the same. On Rohingyas issues, KCCI said that rather than going on the constitutional aspects, the Jammu Chamber  needs to focus on humanitarian aspect of this issue.
With regard to holiday on  Maharaja’s birthday, KCCI said that it opposes the proposal  of State holiday as State has already notified 24 days as holidays and there is need for reviewing it  and reducing the existing list.
KCCI, however, supported the demand of  abolition of Toll Tax at Lakhanpur, removal of non-performing ministers,  on review of Jammu Master Plan, improving power infrastructure, questioning of wastage of Rs 76 crore on Artificial Tawi Lake  and continuation of incentives to all the industries in the State.
“Both our organizations being the apex trade  and commerce bodies of the State, there is no doubt in our minds that there is urgent need for us to unite and work on issues of common interest at the same time respecting each other’s view point which may differ at times. We invite Jammu Chamber members to Kashmir for further discussions on the common issues,” KCCI president maintained.
