JAMMU, May 17: A delegation of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Inc) headed by its president, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, held a meeting with Commissioner, Commercial Taxes Department (CTD), Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, in his office chamber and discussed important issues and difficulties experienced by traders and industrialists in their dealings with the Commercial Taxes Department.
The delegation drew Commissioner’s attention on the difficulties faced by the trading community in E-filing of returns and appealed him to take a lenient view of the dealers who may have failed to file their returns on time due to technical reasons or not being fully conversant with E-filing process.
The Commissioner assured the Chamber that in the case of traders who approach the department, a lenient view will be taken.
The Chamber also discussed the matters about relaxing of norms for the import of implements for agriculture and horticulture purposes. The Commissioner was requested to make the approach of the officers of the department friendlier to instill confidence in the business community. The matters of issuance of VAT 65 and C forms were also discussed at the meeting.
The Commissioner assured that necessary steps will be taken for making these forms on internet. The matters relating to GST, Entry Tax and Service Tax were also discussed. The Commiss-ioner assured the delegation of his support in solving the problems of the trading community and sought the active role of the Chamber in highlighting the issues of the trading community.
