KCC&I pitches for comprehensive bailout package

Srinagar, Aug 19: Kashmir Chambers of Commerce & Industries (KCC&I) today said that there is a need for a compressive bailout package to mitigate the losses that the Valley businesses have suffered.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced a committee to work out modalities for the economic revival of the Union Territory and extending support to its business community.

It is to be mentioned here that the LG had held an interaction with the business community earliest to get the first-hand appraisal of the issues and problems of the business community, following which the committee was formed to come up with its report in a time-bound manner.
Sheikh Ashiq KCCI president said that he along with rest of the business committee is hopeful that the setup committee will not only come up with the report but will also recommend a comprehensive package for the revival of the economy of J&K.
“We had discussed with them that if the Government is hoping to revive the economy, then how it should go about it, we told them all,” he said.
He added that the inputs included the formation of a committee to make an assessment of the overall economic scenario and propose fresh measures to ensure its revival, extension of power amnesty scheme and taking a holistic view of policy/guidelines for registration, renewal/operation of houseboats.
“There is a need of comprehensive bailout package and in doing that we have to keep in consideration shopkeepers, others surviving at the lower level,” he said.
