KCCI raises key concerns in meeting with LG

Srinagar, Feb 3: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) today said that it raised several issues faced by various sectors in Kashmir during a recent meeting with the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha.
In a statement issued here, the trade body mentioned that, regarding the tourism sector, it requested the renewal of Tourism Registration Licenses for hotels, restaurants, and houseboats under the Single Window System to facilitate ease of doing business.
KCCI informed the LG that the current renewal process takes months and years due to the cumbersome process of obtaining NOCs from multiple departments.
The trade body also sought permission for repairs, renovation, and reconstruction of hotels in Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, LCMA, and other areas during the meeting.
President Javed Ahmad Tenga, along with senior vice president Ashaq Hussain Shangloo and treasurer Zubair Mahajan, discussed tourism and industry issues with the LG.
Additionally, KCCI urged the implementation of policies for industries and emphasized the need to allocate quotas for locally produced items to support the suffering of local industry.
The trade body emphasized the importance of implementing ease of doing business and a Single Window System for the growth and development of the industry to address the growing unemployment problem in the state.
KCCI demanded amnesty for commercial power consumers, similar to the amnesty granted to domestic consumers, and requested a halt to coercive actions.
Regarding the expansion of Srinagar Airport due to increasing tourism arrivals, LG was informed about the inadequacy of the present infrastructure, causing inconvenience to travelers. KCCI highlighted the shortage of food and beverage vending joints despite available large spaces.
President KCCI also raised the issue of the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), seeking another scheme with a higher cap and longer duration.
KCCI stated that LG Manoj Sinha assured them that the points raised are under serious consideration by the administration and will be resolved soon, including the power amnesty and OTS scheme
