KCCI urges NIT students to focus on studies

Srinagar, Apr 7: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) today urged the students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar not to fall prey to vested interests and enemies of peace and instead focus on their studies.
A spokesman of the Chamber expressed concern over the ongoing row at the prestigious NIT and said the issue is being blown out of proportion. He said the issues like that of NIT have been occurring in other institutes of the country but they are skipped by media.
“The KCCI has noted and is watching with grave concern the events related to trivial issues recently that crept in between the students and the management of NIT Srinagar which is being fanned out of proportion by the politically motivated vested interest with apparently a nefarious design to rouse the sentiments of local people and cause unrest.
“The Chamber would call attention of the authorities to the fact that such issues have been occurring among students of institutions like Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU), Filling and Technology Institute of India… but the national media both electronic and print do not present it in the same way as they have been highlighting a small issue between the students and the administration of the NIT Srinagar,” he said.
The KCCI said that people of Kashmir have never hurt non-Kashmiris stationed in the Valley and time and again displayed their brotherhood and harmony. “It need be noted that there are non locals/ non Kashmiris in large numbers earning their livelihood in Kashmir and not a single such incident has ever taken place in its history of nearly 60 years. During floods non-Kashmiris were rescued by the locals and moved to safer places to be well looked after which has been acknowledged by them through national media time and again,” said the Chamber spokesman.
“In the given scenario the KCCI would appeal the students of the NIT to continue with their education without falling prey to any intrigue and machination of the enemies of peace and vested political interests as it is in no one’s’ interest to politicize the issue which could be resolved by the NIT management and the students community mutually,” the Chamber spokesman added.
