JAMMU, Apr 21: Kalamkari Centre Society (KCS), under its community outreach project ‘Anant Gram’ organized another health & wellness initiative in the form of a health checkup cum awareness camp at its village centre in Panjgrain, under the expertise of Dr Vinay Bhagat (MBBS, MS Surgery, FMAS).
The Camp was attended by local village elders, women and children along with Purnima Chaudhri, Gagan, Subash and other team members of the society. Free medical consultation, health awareness, personal hygiene interaction and distribution of medicines & vitamins along with refreshments were sponsored by the Society.
The Society under its health and wellness initiative has been working towards improving the health and nutrition challenges amongst the children and the women of the community, connecting pregnant and lactating members of the villages with the health experts for improved pre and post-natal care and organizing health wellness camps. It also proposes to conduct workshops for women’s preventive healthcare.
KCS has curated workshops on personal hygiene, safe drinking water and waste management. It has adopted innovative training tools such as plays, puppet shows and audio visual presentations to reach out to the vulnerable women who are often not educated and children.
The KCS was founded by Purnima and Umang Sagar Chaudhri in 1983 and is continuing to bring improved social impact amongst the rural communities. The Society initiated its Anant Gram outreach project in the year 2021. Natasha Chaudhri and the team have worked towards entrepreneurial training for women besides setting up an effective learning centre and a mobile library for the young village children.
The Anant Gram Project at Village Panjgrain is a pilot initiative and it is Purnima Chaudhri’s vision to continue the initiative at regular intervals and to scale it to other villages across social issues.
