KARGIL, June 8: Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) has urged the District Magistrate, Kargil to take all possible measures to maintain peace, harmony and law order situation in the area in view of proposed peace march by Budhists led by a monk over construction of Gompa in Kargil town.
A delegation of KDA led by its Co-Chairman, Asgar Ali Karbalai and Qamar Ali Akhoon met the District Magistrate Kargil in his office chamber today and submitted a memorandum, demanding to stop alleged politically motivated `peace march’ being led by a monk to Kargil.
They said that KDA apprehends that some miscreants may try to exploit the situation and create law and order problem during the march in the town. Therefore, effective measures be taken to prevent their march and possible attempts of miscreants in disturbing peace in this peaceful border town.
They further pointed out that regarding construction of Gompa at Kargil at the proposed site, the meeting of KDA, local religious organisations and members of Ladakh Buddhists Association (LBA), the main stakeholder, was held recently and both the parties reached an agreement. The issue has almost been settled. The KDA had already flashed a letter to the UT administration on June Ist, projecting our apprehensions. Otherwise, it will disrupt the progress made by the KDA and LBA to settle the Gompa construction issue in the town, they pleaded.
