JAMMU, Mar 28: Uttarakhand’s tourism sector has achieved a significant milestone as Kedarnath was honored with the Best Adventure Destination Award at the prestigious India Today Tourism Survey & Awards 2025.
The award ceremony, held in New Delhi, recognized the State’s continuous efforts in promoting tourism, especially in the adventure and spiritual tourism sectors. The award was presented by Union Minister of Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and received on behalf of Uttarakhand by Tourism Secretary/Principal Secretary, Sachin Kurve.
Speaking at the event, Sachin Kurve emphasized that while Uttarakhand is renowned for its religious tourism, the State is actively developing eco-tourism circuits to diversify its offerings and attract more adventure seekers.
He also highlighted the State’s initiatives to promote trekking and Astro Tourism, including activities such as sky-gazing events, astro photography competitions, and specialized sea exploration programs. Notably, Uttarakhand’s Astro Tourism campaign is India’s first annual initiative dedicated to this niche sector.
The India Today Tourism Survey & Awards 2025 witnessed participation from several states, including Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. Among various recognitions, Kedarnath stood out as the premier adventure tourism destination, further solidifying Uttarakhand’s reputation as a top choice for both spiritual and adventure tourism.
