Srinagar, Sept 29: The Kashmir Fruit Growers and Dealers Association held a protest today in North Kashmir’s Sopore area, demanding the whereabouts of a trader who has been allegedly missing for the last eight days.
Scores of traders assembled outside the fruit market Sopore and raised slogans in support of their demands. They have appealed to the police and other relevant agencies to locate the missing trader, as his family and fellow traders are concerned.
Fayaz Ahmad Malik, an apple trader from Sopore’s Achabal Rafiabad area, went to Shopian District of South Kashmir by train a week ago for fruit business but has been untraceable since then, according to the traders.
They said that his phone is switched off since then and that they have no idea where he had gone. “On 22nd  September, he went to Shopian by train, but there has been no trace since then. The police should make a greater effort to locate the missing trader. We will take to the streets if his whereabouts are not discovered quickly,” said Fayaz Ahmad, the Association’s president.
The traders said that if the administration fails to locate him, they will hit the streets, saying. “How can we feel safe when such things happen?” another trader said, adding that he be tracked down as soon as possible.
