Srinagar, May 22: Scores of Kashmir Government Polytechnic (KGP) Students today protested against the recent Cabinet decision of approving Degree College status to one of the private polytechnic institutions and sidelining the deserving and well established polytechnic college of the State.
The protesting students said that Kashmir Government Polytechnic (KGP), Gojibagh, Srinagar being the oldest polytechnic college was neglected due to corruption and high influence. “The Government approved KITE polytechnic, a private polytechnic situated at Rangreth, Budgam to college level, and KGP being cent times developed than KITE was neglected,” one of the protesting students said.
The students said that they have better infrastructure and equipment in campus than that of private polytechnics and were in demand of granting Regional Engineering College (REC) status to the KGP.
The students threatened to come out on roads if their demand is not met.
