Khajuria asks CM to name Cong Ministers; SS, DF take out procession against killings

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Sept 27: BJP MLA from Jammu East, Ashok Khajuria has strongly reacted to the statement of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah on empowerment of Panchayats by rejecting the implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments of the Indian Constitution. In a statement issued here today Mr Khajuria termed the statement of Omar Abdullah totally irresponsible and said that BJP has been since demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments as the Panchayats being the basic institutions of democracy need to be strengthened and empowered. He also ridiculed the Chief Minister for saying that two Congress Ministers have opposed the implementation of the 73rd and 74th amendments saying the CM should muster courage and name the Ministers so that the Congress party is exposed before the public for its double standards. Mr Khajuria while expressing grave concern over the killing of sarpanchs and panchs in the State said that Government should take all steps to provide security to the public representatives at grass root level. Meanwhile Shiv Sena and Dogra Front activists led by its president, Ashok Gupta took out a procession from Parade to City Chowk against the attack on panchs and sarpanchs. Addressing the protestors Ashok Gupta said this is not the attack on panhcs and Sarpanchs but the democracy. Those forces are involved in the attack who don’t want democracy should flourish in J&K and they will not be allowed to succeed in their vicious designs, he added. Gupta also criticized the Chief Minister’s statement daring terrorists to attack him and termed the statement as uncalled for. The militants have killed the sarpanchs and panchs who are the public representatives and it is an attack on the democracy which can’t be tolerated. This Government has failed and it should quit immediately he said, adding that on one hand it is perturbed over the killings and on the other hand it is advocating for removal of Army and revocation of AFSPA. He also alleged that NC –PDP are working on the same agenda. While ridiculing the statement of NC Additional general secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamal he said the NC’s leader’s attack on Congress means that the two coalition partners are working in opposite directions which is harmful for the cause of State and hence they should break the alliance in the larger interests of people.
