JAMMU, Sept 24: Coming forward in support of former Army chief Gen V K Singh, senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria today said that National Conference and Congress were playing dirty politics for petty gains by trying to malign the image of retired General.
“Accusations against General Singh are not only false and motivated but also an attempt to humiliate 125 crore Indians who worship Army for its great sacrifices and services to the nation,” Mr Khajuria said in a statement.
Listing the number of goodwill gestures initiated by the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir for welfare of people, he sought to know whether the NC and Congress leaders were not aware of Operation Sadbhabna. During his tenure as Chief of Army Staff, Gen Singh did nothing objectionable but only promoted the national cause, Mr Khajuria added.
“By hurling baseless allegations against Gen Singh, both NC and Congress have proved that there is no different between separatists and these two parties, which are trying to woo a section of voters through their anti-national statements as elections are approaching nearer,” he said.
The BJP leader maintained that his party would not allow the anti-national forces to malign the image of India Army as well as its serving or retired Generals whose integrity was beyond any doubt.
