In a handout Khan said that the sudden doubling of toll rates at Chenani Nashri Toll Plaza has raised widespread concerns among transporters and the public.
He said this abrupt increase is expected to escalate the cost of living for residents and businesses, amplifying existing economic challenges in the area.
The Congress leader said that in addition to the toll rate hike, people of the area are worried over the suspension of work at Mehar Ramban Tunnel due to pressure on tunnel walls.
He demanded probe into the reasons behind the suspension of the work and emphasized on the importance of ensuring transparency and accountability in such vital projects.
Khan also claimed violation of FASTag guidelines at the Toll Plazas of J&K and said that according to new NHAI guidelines, the waiting time at Toll Plazas must not exceed 10 seconds, and if it does, drivers are not required to pay any toll fee.
“However, reports indicate that 10-second rule is frequently violated in J&K, leading to long queues and delays at Toll Plazas across the region,” he maintained.
