Khan inaugurates KREDA Office

KARGIL, Dec 12: LAHDC Kargil has decided to adopt passive solar design for all the upcoming government buildings in Kargil Ladakh.
This was announced by the Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan while inaugurating the first passive solar building office of Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) at Council Secretariat.
The single floor building came up at cost of Rs 40 lakh, and with locally available material like mud bricks, baked bricks, cavity walls and double glazed building which if made at the normal procedure have cost Rs. 1.5 crore.
Khan congratulated KREDA team led by Kacho Ahmad Khan for making such a wonderful building.
He said that the first government building which will come at the same design will be 300 bedded hospital to be constructed by CPWD and the department has to approve its design from LAHDC Kargil after duly vetted by KREDA.
Referring to the bone chilling winters of Ladakh, Khan said that this design will bring down the running cost incurred on the heating system as well as help in reducing more carbon emission.
Answering to a question related to salaries of KREDA employees pending for the last one year, Khan said that he has taken the issue with UT administration which has assured to clear the salaries of the employees and after that they will come up with a policy which will make KREDA sustainable.
He further added that to make KREDA sustainable, LAHDC Kargil has created a separate head in Capex Budget with an initial fund allocation of Rs. 2 crore as well as the power purchase agreement of Hydro Projects of KREDA and 15 per cent service charge for any consultancy by KREDA to other departments will also help.
On this occasion all the Executive Councillors, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Baseer Ul Haq Chowdhary, Councillor, Tai Suru Syed Abass Razvi, Project Director KREDA, Kacho Ahmad Khan and other officers were also present.
