JAMMU, Jan 9: Councillors Arun Khanna, Subash Sharma and Gopal Gupta of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) are all set to be elected unopposed as Chairmen of three Standing Committees of the Urban Local Body as no other nomination was submitted at the office of the JMC Secretary till 4 pm today which was the deadline.
The trio-Gupta, Khanna and Sharma are senior leaders of BJP.
The three Standing Committees of JMC which will bet new heads are Swacch Bharat Committee, Health and Sanitation Committee and Social Justice Committee and each of these Committees have nine members who will vote to elect the Chairman of respective Committee.
Gopal Gupta is Councillor of JMC from Ward number 5 and he is all set to head Swacch Bharat Committee of JMC.
He said that apart from him other eight members who may vote in his favour are Councillors Hardeep Singh Mankotia, Yashpal Sharma, Suraj Prakash Padha, Sandhya Gupta, Joti Devi, Inderjeet Sudan, Rashpal and Ch. Mohi-u-Din.
Gopal Gupta said that after becoming Chairman his priority will be to enforce complete ban on use of ply-bags and segregation of dry and wet garbage.
Arun Khanna who is Councillor of Ward number 25 is all set to head Health and Sanitation Committee of JMC.
He said that apart from him other eight members who may vote in his favour are Sobat Ali, Narinder Singh, Teerath Kour, Rajkumar Tarkhan, Mahinder Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Shama Akhtar and Baldev Singh Baloria.
Khanna said that after becoming Chairman his priority will remain ensuring success of PM’s Swacch Bharat campaign with public cooperation.
Subash Sharma who is Councillor of Ward number 36 is all set to head Social Justice Committee of JMC.
He informed that Councillors Jeet Angral, Kuldeep Singh Chib, Ajay Gupta, Tripta Devi, Sham Lal, Ritu Choudhary and Rama Devi may vote him to win. One member of this Committee Raj Rani has passed away.
Subash Sharma said that his priority after becoming Chairman will be to ensure pensions to widows, BPL Ration Cards, Health Cards, E-shram Cards and Labour Cards to the deserving people.
