Flanked by the Congress vice president and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary (org) K C Venugopal; party Incharge for J&K, Bharatsinh Solanki and other senior leaders, Kharge said, the party has lost both the seats in J&K although there has been some increase in the vote percentage. There have been some shortcomings at some level and it is the time to self- introspect. He said the party has also sought report from various States and UTs through various committees, where it has suffered loss.
While addressing crucial meeting with the senior Congress leaders from J&K ahead of upcoming Assembly elections, Kharge said, “No one can have his own ways in the party. No one is above party. It is must for the senior leaders to take along all the functionaries, maintain unity and discipline in the party,” Kharge cautioned.
Kharge said the tall claims of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre that peace and normalcy have returned in the Union Territory stand exposed with recent terror attacks and asserted that the people in the region are once again looking at the Congress to return to power.
