JAMMU, Nov 18: Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) has expressed its grave concern over the changing the historical names of mountains, lakes and towns in Kashmir Valley by some anti social elements.
The KHC in a handout issued here today under the signatures of its president M L Thusoo and convener P L Koul Badgami took serious exception to naming of Hari Parbhat as Kohimaran and holy Shankaracharya hill lock in Srinagar city as Thakt Sulemian.
The statement said such changes in the nomenclatures of historical places is a political harassment, which is viewed seriously by the community as they have neither legal nor historical background.
The KHC also made an appeal to print and electronic media not to ascribe the changed names of historical places of Kashmir in their news items keeping in view the religious sentiments of the community attached to these places where ancient Hindu shrines are situated.
