SRINAGAR, Mar 19: With no solution in sight over cement loading row, hundreds of residents of several villages of Khrew industrial hub today protested against police and truckers associated with a particular union.
The truckers associated with Al Khuddam Union along with their families held massive protest against the alleged atrocities committed by police and their rival Zaffran Truck Union yesterday after outbreak of clashes in Khrew.
The two truck unions are at logger heads with each other over the loading and unloading of cement from factories that are operational in Khrew industrial hub. There is no end to the existing dispute even after police and District Administration intervened many times.
The protesters while lashing out at police and authorities said that no one is listening to their plight. “There is no one who is willing to help us. We appeal Government to shift us from this place so that we can live a peaceful life,” said the protesters.
The protesters alleged that they were “brutally assaulted” by police and surrendered militants yesterday. “No one is caring about us. We have been deprived of our fundamental rights that have been given to us by the Constitution,” said an angry woman protester.
