DODA, Apr 13: Minister of State for Home, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo has expressed his dismay over the increased frequency of road accidents and said that further loss of precious lives on account of road accidents will not be tolerated any more.
In a statement issued here on reaching Jammu from Kishtwar, where a terrific road accident has claimed five precious lives, Mr. Kichloo said that stringent action will be taken against concerned officers from top to bottom for any negligence in checking road accidents. He has called for maintaining a daily register to know the causes of road accidents so that responsibility is fixed against defaulting officers for negligence in their duties. He said immediate action will be taken against concerned officers including DTIs, SHOs and RTOs of the respective areas where a road accident occurs due to their negligence.
Mr. Kichloo has directed the Traffic Police and Transport Department to increase frequency of checking to ascertain authenticity of driving licences, RCs of the vehicles and route permits. He said it is most unfortunate that precious lives are lost in road accidents which could be avoided by timely checking of over loading and over speeding of vehicles.
