KISHTWAR, Oct 2: Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo criticised the recent hike in fuel prices.
In a press statement here today, Kichloo condemned the petrol price hike and demanded that government retain its control on pricing of petroleum products besides seeking a change in pricing policy.
He further added that due to the sudden hike on petrol and diesel prices, people face psychological trauma because it automatically affects their mindset. He said mainly the maximum population use the public transport for their daily routine work and due to the sudden hike in petrol and diesel prices, the owners of the vehicles are not able to manage themselves in the present circumstances because the price graph touch the elevation point and this becomes a compulsion for the transporters to choose the path of demonstration in terms of strike and hartals.
Earlier, there were number of demonstrations and protests and even people burn the effigy of the petroleum ministers but none take this issue seriously and specifically centre is not bothered about this.
While speaking on the occasion, Kichloo said that every time petrol prices are revised, the rates of essential commodities automatically go up which affect the poorer sections of society whom, he said, had little purchasing power. He demanded that changes should be made in the pricing policy considering social welfare and the Govt must go for roll back on petrol and diesel prices.
Meanwhile, Kichloo pointed out the “instability” in fuel prices hike randomly without any rules and regulations. He urged upon the common masses to follow the path of agitation and move towards the streets. He said “revolution” is the only medium for fulfilling the genuine demands of the common masses because this government is deaf and dumb.
