Kichloo for bringing uncovered areas under industrialization

SRINAGAR, May 7: Saying that industrialization is the most powerful tool for massive economic and employment generation, the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo today urged for bringing all the hitherto uncovered areas of the State under the ambit of industries, adding that land banks needed to be created in each district for this purpose.
Speaking at a review meeting of State Industrial Development Corporation Limited (SIDCO) here this afternoon, Mr. Kichloo said there should be no discrimination with any area with regard to exploitation of industrial potential and investment of funds for setting up of Industrial Estate.
Mr. Kichloo directed the officers of Industries and Commerce Department to lay major focus on mobilization of investment for the economic and employment growth of the State through development of industrial infrastructure.
Commerce/Secretary Industries and Commerce, Shant Manu, Managing Director, SIDCO, M. Mauzam, Director Industries and Commerce, Meraj-ud-Din Kenoo, Joint Director, Planning, Industries and Commerce, Financial Advisor SIDCO, its Superintending Engineer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Mr. Kichloo called for greater coordination among various agencies related to industrial promotion so that both small and medium industrial sectors are given a big boost in the State. He also called for judicious use of funds and optimum exploitation of industrial potential in all districts of the State, adding that main focus of establishing industrial estates should be the employment generation. He directed that all the industrial enterprises in the State should be asked to furnish details about their manpower requirements so that youth of the State are given due quota for their engagements which is mandatory under the existing industrial policy.
He said both Centre and State Governments are determined to give fresh impetus to the industrial activities in the State, which needs coordinated and determined efforts by the concerned implementing agencies.
The Managing Director, SIDCO M. Mauzam in a power point presentation gave a full details about the existing industrial scenario in the State.
