Kichloo for fresh district wise survey to set up new Industrial Estates

JAMMU, Jan 8: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Sajad Ahmed Kichloo today emphasised the need for conducting a fresh comprehensive survey in all districts of the State for setting up economically viable and technically feasible area specific industries in various parts of the State preferably based on locally available raw material, adding that local entrepreneurs should be given preference in allotment of land in various Industrial Estates. He said far-flung and backward areas should be given first priority while developing new Industrial Estates.
Reviewing performance of the Industries and Commerce Department in Jammu province, Mr. Kichloo said every division of the State has its peculiar industrial potential suited to its geographical and topographical conditions which aspect needs to be taken into consideration while formulating industrial growth plans and registering industrial units. He asked the General Managers of various District Industries Centers, present in the meeting to create land banks in each district to setup industrial estate by acquiring both State as well as private land whichever is available. He also instructed the District Managers to cancel lease deed of all such industrial plots in their respective areas where entrepreneurs have failed to setup their units within prescribed time frame so that the retrieved land is allotted to the new and needy entrepreneurs. He also directed to follow court stay cases in this regard vigorously.
The Secretary Industrial and Commerce, Farooq Ahmad Faktoo, General Managers of District Industries Centers of Jammu Division and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs. 45.98 crore has been disbursed among 200 unit holders of Jammu and Samba districts under Central package of incentives during last financial year, while 34 unit holders have been provided Rs. 7.77 crore upto May 2013 under this scheme. It was informed that under the State Industrial Package, an amount of Rs. 12 crore has been provided to 99 unit holders.
