Kichloo seeks fresh survey for updating ration cards

KISHTWAR, Nov 6: Former minister and National Conference MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today sought a thorough survey at Panchayat and Block levels to include the left out population in ration cards to ensure rations for all by the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department.
“The current rations cards are based on the outdated census and thus denies rationing support to many”, he said while interacting various deputations after winding up five-day visit of the Padder area in Kishtwar district.
He said the people of far-off areas are suffering on account of utility services, especially foodgrains and stressed the need for making adequate buffer in view of ensuing winter months. He said the failure of the PDP-BJP Coalition Government on all fronts has accumulated the problems of the people and particularly in hilly areas.
Responding to the issues listed by the deputations, Kichloo assured them that he will take up the issue with authorities for speedy disposal.
The delegations of various socio-political organisations, as also the party worker of Padder areas apprised Kichloo about various issues of public concern. They demanded enhancement of ration quota as per the topography of the area. The people informed the MLC that many souls were left out in Government census and demanded that new census should be done so that the left out souls could be adjusted and accordingly the ration will be given to them.
They rued that the ration provided to them is not fulfilling their requirements and sought ration at the rate of 18 Kg per head. They also sought solar lights, special on spot recruitment drive as per the poll promise made by the ruling dispensation,  taking up of Karthi Power project so that the local unemployed youth will get job opportunities besides scheduled water and power supply.
They also demanded clearance of all pending payments of job card holders of MGNREGA, expediting the construction on Gulabgard-Machail road under execution through PMGSY, start of work on Ligri road, blacktopping of Ligri road and improvement in health and education sector.
Later, Kichloo also held a meeting with party workers and asked them to reach out to the people and listen to their problems and brought the same into the notice of senior party leaders so that same could be taken up at appropriate forum.
