KATRA, July 14: Swift action by Katra Police saved the life of an eight year old girl child, who was kidnapped from her home and taken to Delhi by the accused.
Police have also arrested the alleged kidnapper, a labourer from Chhattisgarh and his sustained interrogation was going on to ascertain motive behind the kidnapping as well as his involvement in any other crime.
The matter came to light when a resident of Sarwani, Jahangir Champa, Chhattisgarh, currently staying at Katra, approached Police Station Katra on July 11 stating that his eight year old daughter had gone missing.
Upon receiving the complaint, SHO Katra Nishant Gupta swung into action and immediate launched a search operation to recover the girl. By following the trail of CCTV footage, coupled with technical assistance, location of the girl was established in Delhi.
Thereafter, a special team from Police Station Katra was dispatched to Delhi. The Police team successfully recovered the kidnapped minor from the Kashmere Gate area of Delhi and handed her over to the family after completing all legal formalities.
The accused kidnapper , identified as Shankar Lal, son of late Gauri Lal, aged 26 years, was also arrested and brought to Katra.
The whole operation was conducted by SHO Katra, Nishant Gupta, under the supervision of SP Katra Vipan Chandran and SDPO Katra.
