Kidnapped minor girl recovered, accused held

Srinagar, Nov 10: Police in Budgam today said to have recovered a kidnapped minor girl and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime.
Official sources said on Oct 31, Police Station Khansahib received a written complaint from one person stating that his minor daughter was kidnapped by one person namely Mohammad Iqbal Shah, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah, resident of Dreygam, Khansahib.
Accordingly, police registered a case vide FIR No. 237/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khansahib and the investigation was initiated.
During the investigation, a team headed by SHO Police Station Khansahib was constituted to trace and rescue the kidnapped girl.
“Acting on specific leads and by utilizing all available means, the team was able to recover the kidnapped girl from Rajouri and also arrest the accused person involved in the commission of the crime. The accused has been shifted to PS Khansahib where he remains in custody,” police said.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, police said, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
