Killing of women

Sir,
This has reference to the news item “56 women killed in Pakistan for giving birth to girls” DE Nov 29.
Whether it is India or Pakistan but the story is one the moral same: discrimination against women-often referred to as weaker sex. They are weak in the sense because they get thrashed, beaten, sexually assaulted and killed by men who consider themselves powerful.
The killing of women on the pretext of giving birth to girls underscores the fact that ‘masculine mentality’ transcends borders and is not confined to a particular region or race. No civilised society can allow such a thing to happen as it is an assault on its own identity and existence. Rather than respecting the womanhood, man has embarked on denigrating it.
Despite knowing the fact that no society can survive without women, one fails to understand why men kill women which include mothers and girls.
Yours etc….
