Killings, dialogue can’t go together: Vakil

Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that killings of innocent people in Kashmir and dialogue can not go together.
In a press statement here Mr Vakil  said that the upcoming visit of all the party delegation won’t bear any fruitful results until Central Government do not generate any hope for dialogue with Hurriyat leaders and if they ignore Hurriyat leadership this time it will be like befooling the world community that we are engaging in dialogue with regards to K- Issue.
He said unabated killings of innocent people have to be stopped which has crossed all the limits as killing and dialogue cannot go together. Centre Government has to impose a blanket ban on lethal weapons like pellet guns in Kashmir so that a congenial atmosphere is created for a constructive dialogue in the State and said it will be a futile exercise by engaging itself with the mainstream politicians as mainstream political parties including PDP, NC and Congress have no role in the present political scenario of the State.
Vakil stressed upon the Central Government to make dialogue result oriented as in the past as well not only have all party delegations visited Kashmir in turmoil periods but the interlocutors and working groups submitted proposals for addressing the political concerns of the people of J&K but no result till now as all the successive Governments at Centre have treated Kashmir issue as commodity on which they can play their dirty politics.
The former minister  advised the Central Government to shun stubborn approach and start an immediate dialogue with Pakistan because on one hand Centre alleges involvement of Pakistan in the present turmoil on the other hand they are taking hard stand of not engaging in dialogue with them so how they are planning to resolve the Kashmir issue and how they expect peace in such circumstances unless they don’t start a meaningful dialogue.
