SAMBA, Oct 27: A kingpin of thieves’ gang was today detained under PSA by the Samba police. A team under the guidance of SSP Benam Tosh, detained and lodged in jail kingpin of thieves’ gang namely Mehboob Ahmed s/o Shamas Din r/o DoodlaBasholi, district Kathua A/P Bari Brahmana.
Mehboob was involved in as many as fourteen (14) theft/ burglary cases in Samba, Kathua, Jammu and Reasi districts. Earlier, he was arrested by Samba Police,Kathua Police & Jammu Police and huge recoveries including gold ornaments & cash were affected by police.
He was functioning as self-styled gang commander of thieves and dozens of thieves were operating under his command & control whom he used to make either cash payment or used to provide share of stolen property immediately after the commission of thefts & burglaries.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh said that police is taking strong legal action against thieves in Samba district because of which fresh incidents of thefts have been curbed to a greater extent and old under investigation cases are being worked out.
