JAMMU, June 30: Gangyal police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ arrested the kingpin of the Pathankote-Jammu drugs cartel and recovered large quantity of intoxicant capsules from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka near Digiana Camp and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, who was heading towards Kunjwani from Satwari.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrian escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the pedestrian.
During checking, police recovered 250 intoxicant capsules from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Prabjot Singh alias Kalu, son of late Rajinder Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana.
During questioning, the accused disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Pathankote on nominal rates and used to sell the same among the youth in Jammu and surrounding areas to make illegitimate profits.
With his arrested, police not only saved the youth from becoming drug addicts, but also saved the future generation from going towards the darkness.
A case under FIR Number 54/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons indulged in this illegal trade practice.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammed Rafiq Manhas and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
