JAMMU, May 7: Alleging that the people of entire belt of Kishtwar district are made to suffer on account of dingy and dilapidated roads, BJP senior leader Sunil Sharma said that the people in Kishtwar are on roads for the last three days demanding proper road connectivity but the administration is sleeping.
Sunil Sharma said that major city and towns of Kishtwar do not have proper roads. The roads which were constructed years ago too are in shambles as they have not been repaired in time and maintained properly.
He said there is massive anger and resentment against the Government. Repeated representations and appeals did not bear any fruits. Even promises by the Ministers and MLAs of the ruling coalition too have failed to provide any relief which has forced the people to come on roads to register their anger and seek justice, he added.
Sharma said that GREF and BRO too are responsible for the condition of these roads. GREF and BRO men are seen on roads but no practical work on ground is visible. Roads are as bad as they were decades ago, he added. Citing recent incident of a death, Sharma said that a local youth Gulam Nabi died as the family could not shift him to the hospital for three days due to bad condition of road.
Sunil Sharma said that the connecting roads from Malipeth to Kuleed, Malipeth to Pochhal, Paddar road, Dachhan Road, Thakrai Road, Nagsini Road are few link roads which have not been cared for years and are now in total bad conditions. The worst affected road is Thathri-Kishtwar National Highway, which has consumed many precious lives from time to time.
Sunil demanded that the roads in Kishtwar which are under GREF, should be handed over to some other private agency so that no more lives are lost and accidents do not occur every now and then on these roads.
BJP State press secretary Balbir Ram Rattan was also present in the press conference.
