Kishtwar, Mar 13: In order to spread awareness, today District Police Kishtwar organized an awareness program on new Criminal Laws at Govt. Degree College Chatroo. The program was organized by Dy. SP DAR, Sajjad Khan, under the guidance of Sr. Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Abdul Qayoom.
The event witnessed significant participation from renowned educationists, prominent individuals, and students of GDC Chatroo. They were made aware of the new criminal laws, namely “Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita” (BNS), “Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita” (BNSS), and “Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam” (BSA), which replace the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act.
The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for crime victims and society at large, emphasizing the modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology and setting timelines for trials.
The participants appreciated the role of the Police in organizing the program and urged for more such initiatives to spread awareness among the general public about the implementation of new criminal laws.
